A very insightful look at the problems of implementing 21st century learning. As much as teachers in my school are ready to try new ideas, we are prevented from even starting due to filtering issues. Many web 2.0 tools are blocked, regardless of content it seems.

I think that it is extremely important to make sure that students begin to understand the real world application of the technologies. Sometimes it can be difficult for those who don’t have access to computers at home to understand how these tools apply outside of a learning/ educational setting.

Kathy – so many relevant points to think about from our readings. I wonder if admin appreciates the following: “our goal is not to highlight the role of the teacher-librarian, but to support student learning and enhance our practise as teachers.” It seems a show by doing – over a show by talking about doing.

Thanks, Kathy. Your post is a great reminder of both the highlights and lowlights (or challenges) that many students in this course faced. Time certainly is an issue for us all, as we juggle work, family, and life responsibilities. It’s not easy to be a student when there are so many other things on our plates. Thanks too for putting me in the same category as the ‘real’ gurus of educational technology. I don’t think I really do belong in that category but it has been a privilege learning from you and from them throughout this past term. Have a wonderful holiday and I look forward to ’seeing’ you in 545 next term!
